I am the business development lead and an IP manager for Berkeley Lab’s Biosciences Area. Berkeley Lab is a US DOE-funded national laboratory. The Lab offers a broad range of capabilities and technologies that can help accelerate products-to-market in the bioeconomy, including:
- Production of entirely new or drop-in molecules for plastics, commodity and specialty chemicals, and advanced biofuels, including SAFs
- Developing new hosts that can efficiently use low-cost and sustainable feedstocks for low or negative carbon intensity scores
- Fermentation capabilities of up to 300 liters
- A suite of 8 x 500 mL pressurizable gas fermentors, equipped for carbon dioxide, hydrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, oxygen, and/or nitrogen.
- Combining multiple omics technologies and bioinformatics
- Rapidly designing, building and testing through automated workflows
- Powerful computing & modeling infrastructure for predictive microbial engineering
- An extensive catalog of intellectual property available for licensing
